The real Terracotta Army figures were made 2,200 years ago in China by government workshops commissioned by the First Emperor of China. To the latest estimations the terracotta warriors statues were made in a similar way than terracotta drainage pipes serving Emperor’s Castle. This means that the soldiers were made from hollow pieces and then assembled after all the parts have been fired. After the assembly of the Terracotta Warriors, they were colored in bright colors reflecting the way Chinese soldiers looked in those times. The warriors are unique because their faces, garments and armor doesn’t repeat. It suggests that they were made to resemble particular people, most likely, actual warriors from the Emperor’s army. However, there is a slight exaggeration as the terracotta figures measure from 6 feet to 61/3 feet tall, which is some good 10 inches taller than Chinese people were 2,200 years ago.
The bright colours have faded; the armor is stolen but luckily the time has saved this wonder for the next generations. Modern day Chinese craftsmen had to learn the old lore from anew.
